Choosing a colour
How white tile changes your pool water
White is the lightest base you can give a pool. The water, the sky and the sun still add their own colour on top, so here is what to expect.
Light, bright water
White and very light tiles reflect the most light, so the water usually looks light and fresh, often a pale aqua or soft turquoise. How strong that is depends on depth and sun.
Pearly and iridescent whites
Iridescent whites pick up the sky and shimmer as the light moves. Depending on the angle they can lean a little blue, pink or cream.
Depth adds colour
In shallow areas such as a tanning ledge or steps, white tile looks its brightest. As the pool gets deeper, the water adds more of its own blue or green.
Keep it fresh
Light tiles show leaves, dust and waterline marks more than mid tones do, so regular brushing keeps them looking their best.
Best way to choose: order a $5 sample, wet it, and look at it in your own yard in morning sun and in shade.

Will white tile make my pool water look white?
No. Clear water over white tile normally looks light and bright, often a soft aqua or pale blue. What you see also depends on the depth, the sky, the sun and what surrounds the pool. A wet sample in your own yard is the best guide.
Is white glass tile hard to keep clean?
Glass has a smooth surface that does not soak up stains. Any tile can build up mineral scale at the waterline depending on your water, and on white you may notice it sooner, so regular brushing and good water balance help. Call us on 1-800-866-0695 if you would like advice.
What is the difference between 25 mm and 50 mm tile?
25 mm tile is glass mosaic on 12 x 19 in sheets, 4.6 mm thick, and a box covers 21.5 sq ft. 50 mm tile is 5.5 mm thick and a box covers 15.6 sq ft. The larger 50 mm tile has fewer grout joints, and the 25 mm tile gives a finer, more detailed look.
What does special order mean?
A special order tile is not in stock right now. You can still order it online, and it usually takes about 8 to 10 weeks to arrive. Call 1-800-866-0695 and we can confirm the timing for your tile first.
How much are samples and how long do they take?
A sample is 3 x 4 in and costs $5, and the $5 is credited toward your tile order. Sample shipping is free in Canada by UPS and takes 2 to 5 business days across Canada. See ordering samples.
How long does delivery take?
Tiles that are in stock usually arrive in 3 to 5 business days in eastern Canada and 7 to 12 business days in western Canada. Special order tiles take about 8 to 10 weeks. These are estimates, so call 1-800-866-0695 if you have a deadline and we will confirm the timing for you.
How many boxes do I need?
Measure the surface in square feet and divide by the coverage of one box: 21.5 sq ft for 25 mm tile and 15.6 sq ft for 50 mm tile. The pool tile calculator does this for you, and we are happy to check your numbers.
Can I mix different tiles in one pool?
Yes. Many pools use a main colour with an accent or waterline band. Order samples of each tile, set them side by side, and call 1-800-866-0695 if you would like help with the layout.
